Locum Tenens Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Neurosurgery in Oakland, CA. 26-week hospital assignment with competitive weekly pay ($5,040-$5,400) supporting a high-acuity neurosurgery team in the Bay Area.

• Location: Oakland, CA 94602 (Oakland / San Francisco Bay Area)
• Role: Locum tenens Physician Assistant (Neurosurgery PA)
• Setting: Hospital - Neurosurgery Department (inpatient & outpatient)
• Assignment Duration: 26 weeks (September 7, 2026 - March 8, 2027)
• Shifts: Day shifts, 4x12-hour (07:00 - 17:00)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $5,040 - $5,400
• Support Staff: 2 other APPs (Mon-Thu), 1 other APP (Fri), solo APP (Sat-Sun); attendings and RNs available
• Patient Volume: Inpatient: 8-15/day; Outpatient: 20/day (split with attending)
• EMR: Epic

Qualifications - Neurosurgery Physician Assistant (PA-C)

• Active Physician Assistant license (PA-C). California licensure can be supported for eligible candidates.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1-2 years of neurosurgery experience (inpatient and outpatient)
• Level 1 trauma and neuro-trauma experience required
• Ability to remove surgical drains; bedside procedures performed with attending
• Excellent communication skills; must participate actively in privileging process
• Must meet hospital medical requirements (immunizations, physical, drug screen, color vision test)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive neurosurgery care in both inpatient and outpatient settings as a neurosurgery PA
• Assist with neuro-trauma cases and collaborate closely with attending neurosurgeons, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams
• Perform bedside procedures, including removal of surgical drains; support OR activities (first-assist experience preferred)
• Manage patient documentation and orders using Epic EMR
• Deliver high-quality, culturally competent care to a diverse Bay Area patient population
• Work independently on weekends and as part of a collaborative APP team during the week
