We serve over 100 million anime and manga fans across 200+ countries and territories, connecting them with the stories and characters they love through streaming, theatrical events, merchandise, and more.Join our team and help shape the future of anime!About the roleWe are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our LRX Client Core Engineering Team within the Scaling Clients and Partnership Engineering (SCPE) organization. Our team develops and maintains high-performance applications across platforms such as Chromecast, Roku, and Smart TVs.As a Staff Engineer, you will define and execute the technical vision for our client applications, collaborating to deliver exceptional streaming experiences globally. You will lead by example, uphold engineering excellence, and promote best practices.Your responsibilities include:

  • Building and optimizing Crunchyroll's client applications for web platforms focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and project managers to design and implement new features.
  • Leading technical design reviews and making architectural decisions.
  • Managing dependencies across teams for smooth feature rollouts.
  • Ensuring engineering quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.
  • Partnering with leadership to develop a comprehensive testing strategy, including a scalable testing pyramid.
  • Mentoring engineers via knowledge-sharing, workshops, and pair programming.
  • Fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and agility, adapting to evolving requirements.This role reports to the Senior Engineering Manager, Core Web. We are considering applicants in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Dallas. The position is hybrid, requiring three days in the office per week.About YouWe value candidates with:
  • 12+ years of front-end development experience, especially in low-memory environments.
  • Expertise in React or TypeScript, with skills in building scalable, modular, and testable applications.
  • Experience writing robust unit and end-to-end tests to ensure high code quality.
  • A customer-obsessed mindset, with a sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability.
  • Experience working in Agile environments with strong communication skills.
  • Leadership experience through mentorship, technical talks, and guiding peers and juniors.
